This early 70's giallo by Umberto Lenzi is certainly among the best in his filmography and also in the whole genre. Personally I think Lenzi's best films are the funny cartoon-turned-film Kriminal, the stylish giallo Seven Blood-Stained Orchids, the explosive Napoli violenta and this. In the eighties he did plenty of film trash in form of Eaten Alive, Hitcher in the Dark or Black Demons, all of which are ripping something off and/or very dull and slow moving. Knife of Ice came when the giallo boom was at its hottest and the result is convincing.
　　Technically the film is superb, containing great cinematography in the beginning when we learn about the main character's trauma towards trains. From this point on, Lenzi shows us his ability to benefit the widescreen and, for example, the bicycle ride near the forest is genuinely beautiful! This scene also shows Lenzi's ability to build suspense, very slowly but meaningfully. After all, there aren't so many murders in the whole film, only the suspense circulating around the murderer's identity.
　　One suspect is a devil worshipper which brings new aspects to the mystery. Since the final scene takes place in a church, one can wonder if Lenzi wanted to comment on something, maybe the hypocritical morale of church and superstition. The main character (Carrol Baker) is mute which demands a lot from her face and eyes. The actress works very well, giving us a believable performance circulating around the emotions of fear and mental pain. The other actors are good, too. The finally, however, may not give too positive a sight about female sex since they all are expressed rather negatively in the film, one way or another. Still this is easily among the most noteworthy in the genre, not as bloody as the Argento films, for example, but equally suspenseful and visually also interesting.

　　Based on one of the major literary texts survived from the Middle Kingdom, the classical period of Egyptian literature, The Eloquent Peasant is a combination of a morality/folk tale and a poem. The events are set between 2160 and 2025 BC. When the peasant Khun-anup and his donkey stumble upon the lands of the noble Rensi, the peasant’s goods are confiscated and he’s unjustly accused of theft. The peasant petitions Rensi who is so taken by the peasant’s eloquence that he report his astonishing discovery to the king. The king realises the peasant has been wronged but delays judgement so as to he can hear more of his eloquence. The peasant makes a total of nine petitions until finally, his goods are returned.

　　父母及表妹以为羽萱是闹着玩儿，要不了多久，她就会回来。但一去数月，只见她不断向家里要钱、要物、要书，却不见有要回来的迹象。母亲忍不住了，在表妹辍弄下，二人在羽萱支教的地方进行实地考察。发现羽萱并非像他们想象的那样生活得十分可怜，而是过得有滋有味。
　　羽萱向她们讲述了自己来到大山里所受到的震撼和启发。
　　在一所只有三个班级，40多名学生的学校里，她受到了隆重的欢迎和高度的重视，她流畅的英语，她的现代化知识，她的都市概念，让学生和乡亲们耳目一新，同时，她也在淳朴的乡亲们身上，找到了生命原始的动力。
　　周校长，一个快40岁还没结婚的女人，只为坚守一个承诺，放弃了初恋和舒适，挑起父亲撂下的担子，一直默默地坚持了二三十年，使与世隔绝的大山里，知识的火种始终没有熄灭。
　　龙秋生，一个农大毕业的学生，考上了国家公务员，却被分配到大山里来蹲点。他立下了军令状，不改变大山里的贫困面貌绝不回城，以至羽萱和他初次见面时，把他当成了农民。
　　还有一群大山里的孩子，羽萱教他们练起了搏击操，使他们不甘于重复父母的命运，而立下了向命运搏击的决心。
　　羽萱并不孤单，她在这里享受到了生命绽放的快乐，母亲和表妹只好失望地回到了城里。
　　不久后，羽萱为保护一个坠崖的孩子，摔断了腿骨。龙秋生把她送回城里治病，并答应把她的档案资料寄回城里，使她能够读研。战胜病魔即将出院的羽萱，收到龙秋生从大山里寄来的一盒DV带。在政府和乡亲们的共同努力下，沉寂的大山里通上了电话电视，山里的水果山货走进了市场，孩子们把搏击操练得有声有色。还有一条更重要的信息夹在其中：龙秋生向她发出了爱情的呼唤。
　　羽萱感动了，她终于明白，真正的搏击手，是在大山中坚守数十年的传播知识火种的周校长，是领着乡亲们走富裕路而不惜把自己变成农民的龙秋生，是那里的乡亲和孩子们。她意识到，个人生命价值的体现，只能是在真正需要自己的地方。她决定重返大山里。
　　她的行动感动了玩世不恭的表妹，也感动了父母单位的领导，他们为乡下孩子送去了与未来世界接轨的工具--电脑。
　　表妹跟着羽萱回到了大山里，而大山也向她们敞开了胸膛。

　　影片讲述的是蒙古族父子两代“歌王”的故事，父亲是将长调带出草原走向世界的“老歌王”，儿子则是将流行音乐带进草原的“小歌王”。父子两人因为不同的音乐理念，对蒙古族音乐的传承和发扬问题产生了一系列矛盾。

　　Straub-Huillet’s adaptation of Heinrich Böll’s biting satire Bonn Diary presents the reflections of a reactivated officer who is summon ed to the West German capital by the Ministry of Defense to establish an Academy for Military Memories. Straub considered his film to be an intervention against German rearmament in the Adenauer era: "Machorka-Muff is the story of a rape, the rape of a country on which an army has been imposed, a country which would have been happier without one."
　　In "Machorka-Muff," Mr. Straub, employing the cold, somewhat expressionistic but always loquacious approach of his other films, comes closest to underlining the almost subliminal irony of his themes. He briefly outlines, through the performance of Colonel Machorka-Muff, a former Nazi who is reinstated in the Adenauer regime, the unchanging thinking of the Nazi and/or the military mind. As the colonel of the title, Dr. Johannes Eckhardt is properly cold and convincing as the believer in the rights of the soldier. Although it is the shortest and earliest of Mr. Straub's films, it is both the most lucid of his works and the most clearly indicative of his potential as an imaginative filmmaker.

　　Guy Maddin writes, "Tscherkassky has made two films cannibalizing Sidney J. Furie's 1982 Barbara Hershey horror film THE ENTITY, the story of a woman who is continually assaulted and raped either by real ghosts or by awfully adept repressed traumas… The screen literally explodes with a tumult of Hershey faces, shattering Steve Burum's original cinematography into shards of frightened eyes, trembling hands and violent outbursts of self-defense, presented in multiple exposures too layered to count, too arresting to ignore."

　　It's a wonderful spoof documentary following a team on its quest for the oil gobbler, an animal that has evolved to be the perfect denizen of a polluted world. Loathed by the locals for its voracious habit of eating anything plastic, from wellington boots to the protective sleeves farmers put round their saplings to prevent them being eaten by other animals, the ropaci is an elusive specimen and has the team - and thus the audience - intrigued. Finally, they catch it on film - and then manage to capture a young one that they want to take back home with them. The perils of their journey from the pollution-ridden Bohemian basin back through the clean, fresh air of the forest prove too much for the little creature and they come up with an ingenious way of saving it.

　　一天晚上，她到河边挑水，不提防水桶给一个行走匆忙的过路人撞翻了，这个人名叫何宜度，是地主张大有家里雇佣的长工，为人忠厚老实，他辛苦工作一年，张大有竟狠毒地把他的工钱赖掉了，一路上他想着家里的老娘正饿着肚子，年关又到，一个钱都没有，急得心慌意乱，不小心便把苏小娥的水桶给撞翻了。苏小娥问明白了何宜度的底细后，很同情他，就把他请到自己家里去，还拿出50个小钱给他过年。何宜度非常感激，又见她一个人孤苦伶仃，怪可怜的，便帮她干起活来，挑水、推磨、灌浆、烧火……苏小娥一个人平常要忙到二更天的活，今晚在何宜度的帮助下，没多少时候便全部做完了。
　　豆腐磨完了，何宜度就要回去。苏小娥心里真有些舍不得他走，请他喝了一碗豆浆，又借给他一件棉衣穿上。何宜度是个忠厚老实的人，他从来没有受到过这样温暖体贴的关怀，他感动得连话都说不上来。苏小娥对何宜度说了真心话：“你我都是苦根生，应该互相来帮助!”何宜度也答应把老娘接来，跟苏小娥一起生活。
　　这一对有了真诚爱情的青年男女，终于冲破了旧礼教的束缚，幸福地结合在一起。

　　蒋介石为了剿灭红军，调动了几十万大军妄图把红军围堵在大渡河以南。为了能顺利前进，中共党中央委派刘伯承、聂荣臻带领红军先遣队为大部队开路。一路上先遣队英勇作战，同时沿途宣传党的民族政策。
　　凉山地区，由于国民党反动派长期对彝族人民实行残酷压迫，民族隔阂较深。红军进入彝族区后，彝族群众受到蒙蔽，不明真相，对红军实行处处阻挡的政策。
　　红军坚持严格执行党的民族政策，无论受到何种困难和刁难，都坚持不向受苦的彝族同胞开枪。
　　这一切，彝族同胞都看在眼里，头人小叶丹深受感动。他们申明大义，决心军民结盟一起抗击国民党反动派。当时的红军参谋长刘伯承和小叶丹在彝海歃血为盟，先遣队胜利地完成了任务，彝族人民送红军踏上新的征途。
